One of the first consoles I got was the original Game Boy. I had a choice between the game gear with its great colour screen and Sonic the Hedgehog or the Gameboy with its 2 colour screen and Mario. Since I was just a kid you would think that I would have gone for the colour screen, however I always had a sense of good game play and I had played Tetris and Super Mario so I made the wise choice and went for the Gameboy. I enjoyed my Gameboy for many years until I had grown out of it. I didn?t really look after it and lost a few of my games and ruined the case.
A few years later I dug up my Gameboy from the back of my drawer, put in some batteries and slotted in my copy of Tetris. To my surprise it was still working and so I started to play. This is when my nightmares began. I became addicted to Tetris. I had never been addicted to a game like this before and to this day I still have not played a game so addictive. I used to play for hours on end and because it was Gameboy I used to take it everywhere with me. After I used to switch my Gameboy off late at night I would lay down and think about solving problems in Tetris. However one night I had a dream and too this day I still think about it sometimes.
I used to enjoy clearing the whole screen after I built up a whole load of blocks through strategic thinking and then using a 4 x 1 block to clear out the whole screen. But in my dream I started a level and there was one block just sitting there. And because of this block it would be impossible to clear the whole screen. I knew it was impossible yet I would still try to come up with a solution. This drove me crazy yet my nightmares would not let me give up trying to come up with a solution. This addiction to find a solution haunted my everywhere I went, as I would start day dreaming about finding a way to clear the f***ing screen. Below is a picture of my Tetris nightmare so you understand what I am talking about. Because of this I have to say that Tetris is the most addictive game ever created and if anyone has not played it then check it out at eBay and get a copy now.
If anyone else has had any retro game nightmares please let me hear from you. I’?m sure I’?m not the only one.
