There is one board game I really really enjoyed playing as a kid with my brother and friends. I don’t know whether it was the fantasy element
that I enjoyed or the just the simple fighting that it had. It was
probably a mixture of both. The game I am talking about is Heroquest
(or Hero Quest). Made in the UK by Stephen Baker under a MB division and released in 1989 this board game was a instant hit. The game was under the warhammer belt and it has the similar characters that could be hand painted.

The
basis of the game was for 1 person to be the evil Quest Master (Zargon)
and the rest of players to pick a character of a possible 4. The choice
being a Elf, Dwarf, Wizard and my favourite the Barbarian (when you are
young boy you want to be the one with the huge muscles and the big
sword). Who ever was Zargon would control the game (the quests)
and would set up all the traps, monsters, treasure chests, etc. The 4
characters would then go on a quest and try to defeat the evil
characters and collect as many weapons and treasures as possible. There were hidden booby traps scatted in places as well that only the evil master could see. Check
out the official instruction booklet to see the full rules and also the actual quests. The best bit was the add on packs you could buy once you had completed all the quests. I went on eBay to check out prices for this amazing board game and I was shocked. $169.81 including expansion packs.
