Graffiti is easily the most popular form of street art and urban art. The fact that is illegal is one of the biggest factors that makes graffiti so exciting. Deviant Art have put up a post of some great graffiti art work that has been overlooked. Here is what someone at DevArt has written about Graffiti;
Few people know that graffiti originated in ancient times, being used
either for pleasure or in order to impress, nowadays becoming a widely
used way of expressing for individuals or gangs, thus rising certain
problems, because when done without a property owner’s consent it
constitutes an act of vandalism.Graffiti is subject to different societal pressures from
popularly-recognized art forms, since graffiti appears on walls,
freeways, buildings, trains or any accessible surfaces that are not
owned by the person who applies the graffiti. This means that graffiti
forms incorporate elements rarely seen elsewhere. Spray paint and broad
permanent markers are commonly used, and the organizational structure
of the art is sometimes influenced by the need to apply the art quickly
before it is noticed by authorities.
Take a look and enjoy the skills of the great artists. Overlooked Traditional Art - Graffiti
