I love boxing and I love the Commodore 64 because it was the first console I ever played. Therefore I love this retro advert. I don’t remember ever seeing this or any other C64 ones in fact so if you find any more cool ones let me know.
UPDATE: I have just uploaded a larger size image that shows the painting in greater detail.
You may remember a great artist I featured a few weeks ago by the name of Jeremy Dower (here). He does some really cool Isometric art and he kindly sent me an image of his latest painting. Click on the image to view it full size and to see the incredible detail of the painting. Jeremy has also updated his site so go on folks visit the wonders of Jeremy Dower’s World.

Before you get too excited this is not an actual playable mini dreamcast but instead it is a dreamcast design watch fully licensed by Sega. The lid flips open to reveal the actual watch face. The watch is currently on pre-order and costs $129.90. It looks as though retro video game inspired watches are becoming quite popular. Check out the Pac-man watch as well. [link via Gizmodo]

Every shoot-em-up fan knows what the BFG gun is, its the Big F***ing Gun. The gun from the classic game Doom is now available as a replica gun from wickedcoolstuff and boy does it look good. If you like this gun then might like the rayguns I featured a while back as well. [link via Aero Pause]

This weekend was a very special weekend. It was the first time I have ever been interviewed for something I have done. The Blog Reader done an interview to learn more about me, why I blog and my thoughts on urban art and vinyl toys. They asked some very interesting questions and I am sure people will disagree with some of my answers. It is a real pleasure to be in the art section along with Drawn (interview of John Martz), Jim Woodring (interview) and even BoingBoing (interview of Mark Frauenfelder). I know I am not in the same league as these bloggers but this surely is a step in the right direction. Head over to the blog reader to read my interview and leave a kind comment if you like. This is another perfect opportunity to thank all my readers and the lovely people that leave comments. Oh and it may be the first and last time you see what I look like, now surely that will temp you to read the interview.
A big thanks to Jonah for the interview.

This is one of the hottest vinyl toys I have seen for a while. It is an interpretation of the Skull-Kun character and it is created by KAWS and Bounty Hunter. It goes by the name of BXH KAWS and they were both exclusives to two stores in Tokyo, Bounty Hunter an OriginalFake. I have no idea if this will be available in the UK or if any other colour ways will be produced but there is no harm in hoping. [images via Vinyl Abuse]

This is the first time I have come across the graffiti artist PEZ and the extremely happy fish graffiti caught my eye immediately. I hardly see graffiti with humour and PEZ has tons of it in his style. After browsing though the huge gallery of amazing street art, the Picasso looking work above is my favorite. Check out more of PEZ’s graffiti at Lawebdelpez.

How cool is this, a space invader street art piece made out 323 rubiks cubes. Space invaders is quite a popular theme for street art these days but this is easily the best of the lot. Its great that artists keep coming up with original ideas for what medium to use to create their art. [Images via Wooster Collective].

Below is a similar idea but not as well executed because it is just a few stickers.

As most children I grew up eating a lot of different sweets. There were a few that I loved to bits and some I wish I had never tasted (liquorice sweets were the worst). So here is a countdown of 5 of my favourite retro sweets that looked like real life things. (Sweets are from A Quarter Of)
5) Shrimps - The most ugly sweets on this list but the taste more than made up for it.

4) Fried Eggs - The soft white foam part of these sweets were the special part of these sweets.

3) Milk Bottles - These were never as popular as fizzy cola bottles but in my opinion these were a lot more tasty.

2) Juicy Cherry Lips - So soft, so juicy and so tasty. I used to love doing impressions with these.

1) Strawberry Foam Mushrooms - These were just pure heaven. Soft, chewable and filled with the delicious taste of strawberries.

So do you agree with my top 5 or do you think I missed out on a lot of great sweets in my youth? In any case I’m getting a sweet tooth now…uuummmm strawberry foam mushrooms…yummy.
