Ray Frenden has created these great realistic TMNT pieces of art for the upcoming Kid’s in Amerca Show at the Culturepop Gallery. It is great seeing artists putting a little twist on characters that we have grown up with and loved for many years. This is what Ray has to say about creating these.

“Rather than do a straight drawing of everyone’s favorite sewer dwelling, pizza eating, reporter gang-banging turtles, I wanted to take a realistic turtle, throw the signature color bandana on it (as most people, I’m sure, recognize the cartoon’s version of things as the one true way since it’s all they know), and showcase just how far of a leap of imagination it takes to suspend disbelief enough to see these guys as crime fighting ninjas.”

There is no denying that 80’s pop culture is avery popular subject for artists after such shows as iam8bit, back in the day and the recent action man show in London. Hopefully we will see more of this kind of thing in the future especially in the UK. [link via Drawn]
