Found an interesting new toy today on someone’s blog named Maela Has It I couldn’t understand a word of it, so I clicked the link to where the writer apparently found it.. at a site called Spicy Brown. Couple of cool things. I really love the Tofu Robot toy, I don’t know, he’s just really cool! I love all toys that are clearly either Japanese or Japanese influenced! Just my taste. (Pun intended..)

Speak & Spell is a classic retro toy you may have owned but it was one of those toys you would not show off to your friends. You could say it was a educational toy for geeks but I am glad that I owned a similar toy when I was younger. Speak & spell was created in the late 70’s by Texas Instruments and the aim of speak & spell was to help you to learn to spell and develop your speech. If you missed out on testing your spelling when you were a child then you now you have chance by playing the online version at the Speak & Spell Website. Happy Spelling..

True Love Always - Art and sleep: two of my favourite things that these designers have so eloquently combined. Check out the website for their full range of seriously stylish bed linen.

Prices start at £99. www.truelovealways.co.uk.

The smartest coffee maker in the world…. The Melitta Smart Brew not only pours you that much needed cup of coffee in the morning but it also gives you a handy run down of the weather forecast for your day ahead. It uses an FM signal so there’s no complicated set up and it has a built in grinder to automatically turn those beans into gorgeous brewed coffee.

Who said making coffee had to be boring.

Check out www.melitta.com to buy.

Interiors website www.Jellio.com - these guys are all about fun with interiors, their headline being “a world of fun childhood memories brought back as unique home furnishings”.

Check out their website for their amazingly kitsch yet cool range of stuff. My personal favourites were these Gummi Lights priced at $125 each or $500 for a set of five:

The fine art of furniture….like your furniture to be one of a kind? Well this isn’t like anything I’ve seen around lately

The Vintage Architectural Coffee Table offers a glass top with access to the shelf underneath for displaying magazines, artwork and collectables as well as separate drawers for extra storage.

It’s steel and glass design combined with a worn vintage finish makes it a stylish, attention grabbing piece for your living room.

Check out www.twentygauge.com for more info on prices and sizes.

Bathtime – Get rid of your old towelling bathroom rugs and invest in this beautiful bath mat made of ‘solidified droplets of water’.

It’s anti-slip, easy to clean and provides the best foot massage!

A stylish addition to your bathroom I think you’ll agree?

They just don’t make them like they used to…Remember the days of the penny sweet? And when your local newsagent stocked every sweet you could ever lust after….the days before Woolworths came along and installed pick and mix stations? (Now I feel old…) Well now you can have them back!

These guys deliver those exact old school sweets to your door, any amount, any combination and they promise there’s not a sweet or chocolate you can think of that they don’t stock…you can even buy huge jars of the sugary stuff, just like they used to be. Go easy on those teeth now people….

Just a few images sent over from Eric while he was at the great NYCC last weekend. Apparently all three of these guys did rather well with their merchandise, of course, I’m not at all surprised! Awesome.

As I said it would, the Liberty Vinyl sold out (Erick Scarecrow really has a lot to smile about, what an awesome toy!) - I hope you got yours! I have to wait for the next chance. Dookie Poo, pictured with his creator Manny Galan, was sold out there too.

Last but not least, the amazing work of Eric Nocella Diaz. Galtow busts he sculpted both in color and gold.

Here is something even most retro gaming geeks will not know. Duck Hunt was available before it hit the NES. Japan Games have produced this excellent video showing The 1976 version of Duck Hunt and there also a batch of images. It is quite amazing how much this genre of gaming has evolved over the years. Just take a look at House of the Dead 4 and compare it to what was around 30 years ago. [via siliconera]

I am not the biggest chess fan (..well the truth is I don’t know the rules) but you may be able to covert me into a chess geek if you put this in front of me. This Transformers chess set is based on the 80’s cartoon (not the movie) meaning it has great retro bot style and is a battle between the Autobots and the Decepticons. Each figure is going to be approx 3.5″ tall so they will me great display pieces as well. The only downside of this mouth watering chess set is the price tag.. $299. [via tformers]
