This Automat machine from 1969 works just like a modern day vending machine. Kids put their money in and receive their toy of choice. I am not sure why vending machines are not used more widely these days as I am sure they would work great for a large number of products, toys being one of them. Imagine a vending machine with blind box vinyl toys. [via Modern Mechanix]

2We’ve got a lot of those vending machines in the Netherlands, but the only thing they sell is fat and greasy snacks.
