Futura & Jose Parla are 2 legendary Brooklyn based street artists and this month Elms Lesters Rooms Gallery hosted their latest show, Pirate Utopias. This was my first visit to Elms Lesters Rooms Gallery and upon arrival I knew it was going to be special as I had to ring a bell to be allowed in. Upon entering the gallery you are treated to the gigantic 10 x 12 feet canvas piece pictured above by Jose Parla.

Every other piece by both artists is a visual treat with their individual styles complimenting each other. Jose Parla art may not look special in the images but seeing each piece close up reveals a style which makes you think hard about what he has achieved. How his framed pieces featured bold lines which had an amazing unique pattern in each stroke.

Futura’s art was simply stunning as usual with the large white and black canvas piece above being the highlight of the day. However it did not take away from each other piece which featured that Futura character you can not help loving. The range of colours was superb for each piece and was something I did not think expect from Futura.. how wrong I was.

The show is on until 28th July so head down there before its too late and more info is available on the Elms Lesters website. View more images of the exhibition at the Urban Retro Flickr Page
