Coming across an artist for the first and being blown away is always exciting.. and that is exactly what the of Yosuke Ueno does. He is an artist based in Japan who has had exhibitions through out the world. You can similarities in his style to other surreal, low brow and modern artists but that is no bad thing. Now I will pray that Yosuke Ueno one day comes to London.

Jeremy Dower used to have a very fun to navigate site with some great art work. The bad news is that site has now gone… but the good news is that the new site is even more exciting to go through and is filled with some mighty impressive art. The first thing that attracted me to Dower’s work is the isometric perspective for a lot of his work and he has used that to stunning effects. Check the Jeremy Dower website and enjoy yourself.

Graham Corcoran is a freelance illustrator based in Dublin, Ireland who’s work has been in magazines, books adverts and he has also worked as a concept artist for video games and animation. His illustration style caught my eye because some of his work reminds me of all the great illustrations from the past and this is due to a superb retro style and colour pallet he uses for many of his illustrations. Visit Graham Corcoran’s website or blog to see more of his great work.

I discovered Brandi Milne’s work a short time ago during the Smitten show, when I was led to her website. I really love Brandi’s work. Its sorta nouveau but at the same time it has a slight cartoony flair to it. The faces and sometimes lack there of, sets a very soft mood, and an innocence to her characters. You can check more of Brandi’s work out at www.brandimilne.com

At the quintessential age of 18, he moved up and out, north and east, to New York City and enrolled in classes at Pratt Institute. It was there that he received his BFA in illustration, as well as a vast array of student loans. After interning for a small time at the Society of Illustrators, he realized that even the most famous artists he met were completely down to earth, and he thought that maybe he too could be a part of this wonderful group of people. He was right. Matthew’s work can be seen in countless publications around the world, all done from his cozy studio is Brooklyn, New York, where he currently resides with his love, Katie, and their cats, Rocket and Bean.

Artist Name: Danielle Lamberti

Website: daniellelamberti.com

Bio: Danielle is a Painter and Illustrator and resides in New York. Born 1983 and she was raised in Brooklyn in a “Typical Italian” household where she would draw even from a young age. She has worked on both commercial and fine art projects. She started out designing licensing products for Comedy Central and Nickelodeon. She then started really thinking about fine art during her internship for Jonathan Levine Gallery located in Chelsea, NY. She assisted installing artworks for Jeff Soto, Tim Biskup and Camille Rose Garcia. Her art is now inspired from her all girl catholic school education, Girls from the five boroughs of New York City, and bad behavior. They also have their own nationalities and races as well. “Bimba’s” or “Pupa’s” which mean dolls are what she often calls her characters by. Everything from her palette to her characters has meaning within each individual piece. With subtle icons that have hidden messages, so they just don’t “look pretty.”

Artist Name:Scott Scheidly

Website: www.flounderart.com

Bio: Ohio Born. At age four I attempted my first art project by devouring a 10 pack of crayons thus turning my diaper into a Jackson Pollack. At age six I was introduced to the sweet nectar of school paste. At around this same time period I began producing turkey drawings by tracing my hand. At age seven I lost my thumb in an unfortunate Big Wheel accident ending my successful “Hand Turkey Period”. At age ten I ate more paste, however at age eleven I switched to water based paints & modeling clay. Between age twelve to sixteen I was in a daze from the paints I had eaten which I found out to be oil based. I did not produce much art during this time which we will call the “Your Sons Not Quit Right Period”. At age seventeen I had kicked my habits and refined my skills and began to earn money with art for the first time by doing fellow students art projects for lunch money. At age twenty I apparently graduated from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and moved to Florida unbeknownst to me. I still live in Florida where I enjoy floundering about and painting pretty pictures, and I still eat paste now and again just to remind myself of my roots and how I ended up like this. Some day I hope not to be famous.

“The truth will set you confused”.
