In the world of video games getting more and more complicated with amazing graphics its cool to see people doing the opposite as an experiment.
“Here’s an experiment in keeping things small and confined to one Javascript file. There are no external image files or anything, everything is rendered with Javascript using either canvas elements or old fashioned div-making tactics (for IE). The sprites are stored in custom encoded strings in a format that only allows 4 colors for each sprite but in turn only takes up around 40-60 bytes per sprite.”

Pixeloo has bought 2 loved cartoon and video game characters to life with some awesome Photoshop skills. The Mario image looks super cool while the Homer image just creeps me out. I can not wait to see what character is kicked in to the real world next.

Artist Chris Beaumont has promised to bring us a new cube styled paper toy every week and if he can keep up the great work it looks like Cube Craft will be home to one of the finest paper toys collections on the web. I can not wait to download and start on the Stormtrooper, Mr.Stay Puft and Kirby paper toys.

After being mesmerised by the Doktor A Spit & Polish Soopa Coin-Up I got a bit excited by the possibility of seeing even more awesome Soopa Coin-Up customs at the upcoming Soopa Show in New York. The best thing is there is a small chance I may actually be able to attend the show. Make sure you check out the Soopa Coin-Up website and a great interview with the creator Erick Scarecrow.

With the tons of video game figures around its always exciting to hear or toys for your favourite vintage games and the latest is news of Sonic the Hedgehog figures. The most exciting thing about this bit of news is that they are being created by First 4 Figures, who produce some absolutely stunning figures, and they will be based on the classic versions of the characters. I have full confidence that the initial line up of Sonic, Tails and Knuckles is going to be nothing short of amazing when they arrive around July 2008. [via Action Figure]

Join the most infectious competition ever and win fantastic prizes with Resident Evil: Extinction
Here’s how it works. Go to www.residentevilextinctiondvd.co.uk to create your own zombie character.
On creation, your very own zombie will be placed in the infected pen where you can strengthen your character daily by feeding and exercising it. You’ll need to get in there early as food is limited each day.
At 09.00 GMT on 18th February all the zombies will be released into live homepage takeover ads across the Internet. You will be notified by email as to what site your zombie is on.
Within that site your zombie can roam from one advertising format to another of its own accord!
Throughout the day, Alice will roam the internet killing off zombies at random. However, those who have strengthened their character will have a greater chance of survival.
Email updates will be sent out to zombie owners throughout the day, letting you know the current location of Alice. If you are killed off, you’ll also be notified by email. The progress of the zombies will also be published on the site, with the eventual winner crowned at the end of the day.

I Can’t thing on many uses of the classic Atari joystick shape that have looked as good as this Atari Joy candle holder. The fact that is white makes it even more interesting and adds a certain modern feel to it. Just make sure the kids don’t get confused when it alight. Oh and it will burn a hole in your wallet (sorry for the cheesiness) with the price tag of £50. [via Kotaku]
This has got to be one of the most enjoyable live performances ever especially for all you vintage game lovers. Watch it and you will be amazed at how many different games they fit in and at how close to the original music they orchestrated.
