There is a lot more to Blokheadz than you can tell from this animation trailer so you have explore the Blokheadz website to learn what has happened and where they are going with Blockheadz. [via Format Mag]
Receiving a Golden Prize for “Most Groundbreaking Film” at the Fantasia Film Festival 2007 sounds like a great accolade to me and I am itching to see this independent animation after viewing the awesome trailer. We Are The Strange is created by M Dot Strange and initially caught my attention as is features the amazing artist David Choe.

I have not really got into the whole independent film scene by this may sway me more into the world on movies made on small budgets and away from the recent disappointing big budget Hollywood movies.
Here is a synopsis of the movie taken from Film baby where you can also purchase the DVD.
Blue is a young girl navigating the streets of a terrifying, sinister fantasy world all alone. When she meets Emmm, a fellow lost soul, she joins him on a quest for some ice cream. Upon arriving, they realize the ice cream shop has been taken over by dark forces, and the whole city is teeming with evil. Bizarre monsters surround Blue and Emmm on all sides until Rain, a sadistic hero, arrives to rescue them and exterminate the source of the evil.
We Are the Strange is its own imaginative and immersive universe. M dot Strange spent three years painstakingly creating this film, using a range of animation techniques–traditional, stop-motion, computer, and his own unique blend of 8-bit graphics and anime, dubbed “Str8nime.” The stunning visuals are complemented by a soundtrack that is both beautiful and harrowing. The end result is a freaky technocarnival ride that climaxes with a momentous battle between innocence and darkness.

I bet you have never seen a Snail do this transformers impersonation. This is just a sample animation created by Spontaneous and they tons more for you to check out on their website.

I stumbled upon this strange short film, titled Circoripopolo Goes Airtistique, which has something special about it that I have never seen before.. its animates your browser to go along with movie. How they do it I do not know but I don’t really care because finding out will just kill the magic. There may be other short films or animations out there that do the same thing but this is the first I have come across and therefore it gets 2 big thumbs up.

Bulbo is a funny lil character living in a retro cartoon world. The first thing your going to ask is “what’s that on his head?”… Its a bulb which magically grows back every time he removes it. Go kill a few minutes and watch some Bulbo cartoons. [thanks to Anna for the tip]
There are a few animations inspired by the art of MC Escher but none that I have seen compare to Hallucii by Goo-Shun Wang. Not only is the animation and concept / story of the short animation superb but the ending is simply brilliant and actually makes you feel sorry for the character. You can also download the movie here.
This is not the first stop motion animation created using street art but it has to be one of the most creative and entertaining out there. Its amazing that this kind of animation can be created on the streets by using paste ups without any kind of computer tricks. [via Wooster Collective]

I love mash up of videos games and this is one of the best animations I have seen using video game characters. The battle goes on for a while and the whole time I was sucked in by the action, it actually feels like a movie battle scene. The animation features characters from Metroid and Halo and has Matrix written all over it… Superb!!!

A useless animation which is just pure fun… love the music as well. Go waste some time at the Blue Ball Machine
