Tokidoki continues his line of cute creations with the new Cactus Friends, Carina and Bruttino, a new series of mini cactus friend dogs and plush versions of the Adios and Ciao Ciao toys. Anyone following the cactus friends series will be happy to see that new colours have been added to the range… I have to say I love the blue bruttino colourway.

Considering the Carina and Bruttino are only 2″ tall the mini cactus dogs are going to be some of the smallest designer toys around.

Adios and Ciao Ciao have thankfully made a good transition to Plush Toys but I am not to sure they are worth buying over the vinyl versions.

This stunning felt typewriter took the creator several weeks of non stop sewing. It is modelled on a actual vintage typewriter and has some real screws which are tarnished with vinegar. The best bit is that the roller rotates so you can add some paper to add to the effect.

Raz Liebreich recently graduated with a degree in industrial design and his last assignment was dolls. This is the result, and if you ask me, probably a well deserved degree! Congrats Raz!

Well I wasn’t able to get much information on this one simply because, well, it seems unfortunately that no one that has encountered shiitake so far has lived to tell about it.. I guess you could say that Poison is the most dangerous of them all…

This one happens to be a girlie girl Shiitake.

“Trunk Tunk is a Shiitake that is afraid of peanuts and adores mice. She is very quiet and loves enjoying your snacks when you’re not looking.”

Sounds mischievous huh. Cute.

Continuing with the back stories of the Shiitakes by Erick Scarecrow we have Moosh..

“You can find Moosh in the woods spying on squirrels and setting up booby traps for anyone that litters in his part of the woods. He enjoys the shade and slumbers all winter when there’s snowfall.”

Yoshiaki Kaihatsu, a Japanese artist, was given a load of Adidas track-tops to turn into pet animal toys. What a great job he done and I am sure any plush toy and hand made toy fan will be licking their lips right now… but you will not be able to buy these. The toys will be on display at Berlin’s Fashion Week.

To continue the celebration of launching series one Shiitakes by Erick Scarecrow, here is the first of the stories behind the characters. The first one is the one named Escape:

“Escape loves to daydream. He used to workin an office until he realized that those things on the side of his head were not ears but wings. Since then he travels the world enjoying everything his one eye can see.”

Shiitakes Parade Show 1

The Shiitake Parade Rocked ToyQube where a huge load of custom Shiitakes were displayed to celebrating the release of series 1 of the Shiitakes by Erick Scarecrow and ESC-Toys. It wasn’t only the Shiitakes that filled the toy store either as people also flocked to the retailer to get a glimpse of the great designs done by a a large number of artists including ToysRevil, who really knocked my socks, if not many other viewers. Some of the other artists there were spookyAMD, Dizign, and Manny Galan (of Dookie Poo fame)!
