The Masks is a new animation created for Zune Arts by Panda Panther and Black Angels. The crazy masked creatures battle it out until a sudden mood swing which results in peace… ahh how sweet.

I love this rather dark animation, The Mesopotamians, created for the new They Might Be Giants album. To be honest I have never heard of the band but I will be keen to find out if they have more animations to go with their other songs.

Sony have released their 3rd Bravia advert and its a stunner. It is a stop motion animation which took place in New York and involved 40 animators playing with 2.5 tonnes of plasticine. Just will till you see the 30 ft Rabbit…

However turns out there is more to this advert than you would think. Heard of the artists Kozyndan? Check out 2 of their art pieces plus add the fact that SONY requested samples from them and it seems that SONY have been a tad naughty with this advert. Full story at Gizmodo.

Receiving a Golden Prize for “Most Groundbreaking Film” at the Fantasia Film Festival 2007 sounds like a great accolade to me and I am itching to see this independent animation after viewing the awesome trailer. We Are The Strange is created by M Dot Strange and initially caught my attention as is features the amazing artist David Choe.

I have not really got into the whole independent film scene by this may sway me more into the world on movies made on small budgets and away from the recent disappointing big budget Hollywood movies.

Here is a synopsis of the movie taken from Film baby where you can also purchase the DVD.

Blue is a young girl navigating the streets of a terrifying, sinister fantasy world all alone. When she meets Emmm, a fellow lost soul, she joins him on a quest for some ice cream. Upon arriving, they realize the ice cream shop has been taken over by dark forces, and the whole city is teeming with evil. Bizarre monsters surround Blue and Emmm on all sides until Rain, a sadistic hero, arrives to rescue them and exterminate the source of the evil.

We Are the Strange is its own imaginative and immersive universe. M dot Strange spent three years painstakingly creating this film, using a range of animation techniques–traditional, stop-motion, computer, and his own unique blend of 8-bit graphics and anime, dubbed “Str8nime.” The stunning visuals are complemented by a soundtrack that is both beautiful and harrowing. The end result is a freaky technocarnival ride that climaxes with a momentous battle between innocence and darkness.

I have no idea what is going on with the Microsoft Zune but they continue to pump out awesome animations to promote it. This short animation titled Planes is created by FullTank and is the most colourful plane battle you will ever see.

This is not the first stop motion animation created using street art but it has to be one of the most creative and entertaining out there. Its amazing that this kind of animation can be created on the streets by using paste ups without any kind of computer tricks. [via Wooster Collective]
