Whenever I receive an email from Erick at Esc-Toy the little kid inside me gets very excited because I know he will be showing something very cool, unique and exciting. Esc-Toy are dropping some of the hottest toys I have seen so far this year at this years NYCC. The new Kissaki figure and 3 colourways of the new Old School Kaiju figure Dizign (which is amazing) which all stand at 10″ tall will be exclusives at the show with very limited numbers.

There will also be a few other treats so check all the images below and visit Esc-Toy for more info about the show schedule.

After being mesmerised by the Doktor A Spit & Polish Soopa Coin-Up I got a bit excited by the possibility of seeing even more awesome Soopa Coin-Up customs at the upcoming Soopa Show in New York. The best thing is there is a small chance I may actually be able to attend the show. Make sure you check out the Soopa Coin-Up website and a great interview with the creator Erick Scarecrow.

Frank Kozik is pumping out lots of greats toys as usual and there are some real gems coming soon. Here are my favourite toys created the toy genius.

Jamungo 9″ Clockwork NADE. Limited to 130 pieces. A SDCC exclusive which is going to sell out fast because it is such a great design.

Jake, the Amazing Smorkin’ Watermelon, 5 Pack of 1.5 inch toys. One of the best toys from the monger series 1 gets its own spin off series featuring some superb designs.

Monger Farms - Country Time Breakfast. Not much info on this yet but you can see drawings of the 5 toys that will be in the pack.

Captian Blood from the new Frank Koziks Menthol Mongers series coming out towards the end of the year. Nice little design and I cant wait to see the other figures in the series.

7″ Black Anarchy ‘Sarge’. Another SDCC exclusive limited to only 130 pieces. The mini sarge was also from the mongers series 1 and looks great as a 7″ figure.

Papertoys will never cease to grab my attention. They are in a certain aspect very simple in design, but with a great designer behind one, you can have a wonderfully complex and very appealing toy to put on your desk, table, whatever. Another factor that fascinates me is that in paper is thought of, in my mind at least, as a temporary medium, or something that is disposable in most of its forms and everything about papertoys seems to go against this thought making them permanent additions to your toy collection, standing right up there next to their plastic and vinyl counterparts.

E440 is another excellent design, and I have to say, its right up there with Brickboy’s and Shin Tanaka’s designs. You can download your own copy from the site for free and they promise to post your version if you send it in to them also! pretty cool.

Cameron Tiede is a superb LA based artist who has some stunning production toys and custom toys. The range of customs toys is quite amazing and you can check them out on his custom toy page.

Cameron is soon to release these MINDstyle 13 Friends series 1 vinyl toys which features four figures named Edgar, Oswald, Agatha and Rufus. There will only be 500 each of these with some exclusive colourways also lined. I can not image these staying on the shelves for long and you can see from these why there is so much excitement surrounding Cameron Tiede’s toys. [via Vinyl Pulse]

Also of note is the TV head toy design and the Blasters! plush toys. I can not wait to see what other toys Cameron Tiede releases as I think he is going to be a artist to look out for.

What does any revenge-thirsty toy absolutely need more than anything other than to be produced by a great toy company such as Crazy Label? Weapons, I tell ya! You can’t go on a blood-thirsty vengeance-seeking mission without weapons to split the plastic of your toy enemies that stole your family from you can ya? What kind of havoc can you wreak with your bare hands without being the legendary Bruce Lee? Not much.. really. So I give you new images of The House of Liu with their newly crafted weapons..
To be released soon, but no date has been revealed.. sorry.

Knuckle Bears have been screaming to be blown up into mega sized proportions since their initial creation IMO. The little guys have always been far to mean and nasty looking to remain a small to medium sized toy so this is a fitting change. This new prototype by Play Imaginative is just an amazing sculpt, to say the least and I can’t wait to see it finished! [via Toysrevil]

Erick Scarecrow is definitely a man to keep your eye on in today’s vinyl toy market. Without taking a breath from his recent profoundly successful release of his new Liberty vinyl toy at SDCC, in the past week he has not only announced the release of another plush toy series slated for June including a DIY version and a DIY artists’ show to kick it all off! I’ve just finished up an interview with the man himself and I hope you’ll enjoy getting to know him as I did.

Bio ———————————————————————————————–

My first question to you is, can you tell me a little about yourself?

ES: I am the founder of ESC-TOY LTD. I draw, write, and supervise my own and outside projects. I’m also in talks with several networks and a software developer/ publisher for another property called “Mash-Out!” I generally need 8 hours of sleep.

8 hours of sleep, as if that’s possible. LOL.

Okay besides the 8 hours of sleep, describe your typical day.

ES: My day starts with me thanking God! Then my assistant Tadone gets breakfast. We talk about TV shows, music, videogames, movies and toys then it goes down to business. Check my planner, confirm scheduled appointments, check emails and voicemails, review random post-its that are around my studio, go over designs and client projects, make sure shipments are on route or have been delivered, take time out to chat with fans in the forums, chill with my family, listen to some music, check out the vinyl and entertainment sites, check emails and voicemails, send Tadone to get lunch, make room for creative time, and then take some periodic time outs to breathe because I can’t believe I’m running Esc-Toy Ltd. LOL!

What does your office and/or studio look like? Obviously not full of cubes like I’m used to, LOL.

ES: My studio at times will look like a mad scientist’s lab. I’m constantly reviewing new merchandise, projects and big boxes are always coming in.

How did you end up in the designer toy scene?

ES: I ended up on the designer toy scene full time when I lost my job back in 2003 to an undisclosed toy company.
