Seems lately the posts coming up in my reader are about a lot of Kaiju-icyness…. lol (pardon the corny pun). Here are some cool ones posted on Toybot Studios blog.

I don’t play with dolls, I don’t even collect them. But I do appreciate great artistry and the craftsmanship of some doll designs. I grew up with a mother that loves dolls and made very beautiful kimonos for her Japanese dolls, so that probably helped to form my appreciation for them but anyway…Plastic and Plush had this post about an Evangeline Ghastly doll and I couldn’t pass it up - its just so well done. I’m sure you’ll agree, even if you don’t like dolls, you should be able to see the quality work in this one!

The doll is from Wilde Imagination. The Evangeline Ghastly doll will be at the Teddy Bear and Doll Expo next weekend in D.C. along with Joe Petrollese, the doll’s creator who will be there to speak. The resin doll stands a towering 19″ and is ball-jointed and is sculpted by Robert Tonner.
Currently, you can pre-order Evaneline (limited to 750 pieces) as well as a few outfits (limited to 300 pieces each).

Here’s the lowdown on the recent “sneak peek” revealed by Esc Toy. The Soopa Bros toy prototype is at SDCC 2007 and set to be released Q4 2007. It stands approx. 7″ tall and will initially be released as a DIY platform. The cool thing is it will be a seriously popular toy IMO for all the older guys like me that grew up in the arcades wasting our quarters trying to keep those pesky ufos from taking all your humans or getting as many pellets as you could while running from ghosts.. heh.

Erick Scarecrow happens to be a serious fan of arcade games and hence this toy’s creation. Personally I can’t wait to get my hands on a case or two of these.. haha.I t’s at the Dke Toys booth #4832.

Would you want to be the one to face this lady? She looks prepared to do whatever it’ll take to get her way if you ask me! LOL. This Cow by Frank Cho and produced my MINDstyle stands a whopping 24″ tall - yet another in the line of the XLarge sized toys coming out by MINDstyle. Its rather fitting though, she just needs that kind of size to command the attention she deserves, dontcha think?

Brandt Peters newest release is in the form of a whopping 16″ vinyl figure that will drop this Holiday season! This is based on the Slap Happy resin figures by Brandt. There is also a Major whopper of a Slap Happy in 36″ in the works along with other Large-sized art toys coming out from MINDstyle! Be on the lookout! Check out Brandt Peters at SDCC

Apparently according to Vinyl Abuse, Bigshot Toyworks has decided to be the company to handle producing Nathan Jerevicius’s newest figures, that are very Kaiju-inspired. In my opinion from the looks of it? I’ve not a big fan of Kaiju, but in spite of that, Nathan’s figures are superb! I love them! See for yourself and decide

There’s a lot of work coming out of the toy scene today, some urban vinyl, designer toys, plush and there’s the niche that comes specifically from the comic book scene and now also webcomics. I’m never hesitant to do a review and promote the work of Eric Nocella Diaz because frankly, his work is some of the most meticulously crafted I’ve seen and deserves the promo. The latest work to come out of his studio, Goldmane Entertainment, is one based on a noir comic on the web by Dave Flora called Tales of the Revanant. It is a web comic hosted by DrunkDuck. The bust comes blank in a gray and can be primered and painted or just enjoyed as is - since the webcomic comes in black and white!

For those of you who not only appreciate the artwork but would like to own it can do so at great price of $65 by emailing either Dave (daveflora1968 [at] yahoo.com) or Eric (eric [at] goldmane.net). As an added bonus, all busts come signed by both Eric and Dave.
Thanks Eric! You never disappoint!

Slither is Touma’s newest toy with Spanky. I couldn’t find much information on this one so far but I’ll update when I can. It looks might good though, don’tcha think? Also this one will be set to less than 300 pcs.
