I have to say there is something very appealing about the craftsmanship of this Memento Mori1810 Skull Pocket Watch but I just can not see how someone can pay $16000 to carry a scary skull like this around with them and crack open the skull to look at the time.

Momento Mori in Latin means “Rembember you are mortal, remember you will die, remember your death”… uumm this watch gets more and more morbid.

Various stamp keyboards were made in this style with 1 nations stamps covering each keyboard. The stamps look to be all collectors stamp and so the result is a very vintage looking keyboard. I think you will either love this or hate it.. I can not decided if the cluttered look works. However one thing I am sure about is that you will probably spend more time looking at the keyboard than at the screen trying to work out where on earth all these stamps come from. [via Makezine]

How on earth can a Hewlett-Packard ZT1000 laptop that runs both Windows XP and Ubuntu Linux look this amazing. Well having the skills of Richard R. Nagy aka Datamancer is how. The steampunk laptop features an “elaborate display of clockworks under glass, engraved brass accents, claw feet, an antiqued copper keyboard and mouse, leather wrist pads, and customized wireless network card. The machine turns on with an antique clock-winding key by way of a custom-built ratcheting switch made from old clock parts”.

All I know is that any laptop I go out to purchase now will be completely dull and boring in comparison. I mean just look at the beautiful casing when the laptop is closed.

Acorn Studios have made these tribute pins for the bulky Apple keyboards from the 80s and 90s found. They are real buttons taken from rescued keyboards from their local landfill. These are for the real apple fans to wear and show their love. [via Chip Chick]

This stunning felt typewriter took the creator several weeks of non stop sewing. It is modelled on a actual vintage typewriter and has some real screws which are tarnished with vinegar. The best bit is that the roller rotates so you can add some paper to add to the effect.

Its interesting to see a top list of retro cars by someone who has known about cars longer than myself. I say this because I have not actually come across some of these cars before, such as the 1971 Opel GT, and some of them do look quite incridble considering their age. Check out the Retro Thing’s Top 20 Retro Cars list.

Dink is a cake-loving vinyl toy pixie by Miss Mindy. A clearly retro-styled toy, I am sure this one will please the fans of this genre of vinyl toys. I say that because at first glance, it could easily fool the untrained eye in thinking its a vintage toy.. The paint jobs on these two color and monochromatic designs are superb! These good sized 8″ vinyls will be released at SDCC later this year.

There is a nice collection of retro robot toy head photos by Lockwasher over at flickr. Its amazing how much effort goes into the heads of the toys making each robot unique.

We all walk around with iPods plugged in our eyes these days but back in the day people use to walk around with boomboxes and ghetto blasters on their shoulders. (Maybe I am exaggerating a bit). If you missed out on the phenomenon or just want a reminder of your past then you have to make a visit to the Boombox And Ghetto Blaster Museum. If you just want to see what the coolest boomboxes in existence look like, such as the BreakDancer BD-8000 above, then head over to the cool boombox page. The ghettoblaster / boombox is true retro technology and portable stereo classic.
